Dichotomy, as premiered at the 2024 International Trombone Festival, is a duo between solo tenor trombone and solo bass trombone with stereotypical approaches they tend to face in the classical, and most especially, the film music repertoire. But there is such a thing as a false dichotomy and as the piece develops, with comments from the left and right side of the trombone choir functioning much as a Greek chorus in drama, styles and usage of the trombone and bass trombone start to overlap and meld into a defining and majestic conclusion.
